Our Technology

At Prestigious Smiles in North Houston, we’re proud to offer the latest in modern dental technology. Here are just a few of the ways we’re making your dental care easier and more accurate.

More and more practices are adopting digital x-rays as their default. Digital x-rays give off 80% less radiation than traditional x-rays and allow your dentist a more accurate look at your teeth.

With digital x-rays, images are uploaded into a computer program rather than pinned up on the wall against a lightbox. This makes it easier for your dentist to see what’s going on in your mouth and to take a closer look at any areas that need further examination.

An intraoral camera is a small device that allows your dentist to view the inside of your mouth on a large monitor, allowing him or her to see details that they otherwise might have missed. This can also be used to take pictures of problem areas if you need them for insurance purposes.

A panorex allows your dentist to take a 360-degree x-ray of your mouth, resulting in clearer diagnostics and a better view of all of your teeth at once.

This tool can give your dentist a good look at how your bite aligns and whether there is an asymmetry to your mouth’s structure. It can also provide a look into your sinuses and facial bones to detect any problems there.

When you come for a regular dental check-up, the dentist would check for any oral cancer signs. First, he/she will observe with a visual observation like checking for any sores and ulcers in the mouth. If the dentist finds any bleeding tissues, then he/she will examine the underlying tissues thoroughly and may use additional tests.

A device named VELscope® is one of the easiest tools for dentists to detect oral cancer in its earliest stages. If any abnormalities or abnormal cells are found in your mouth, then the dentist will suggest the right treatment plan for you. Sometimes if the condition is more serious, then a biopsy would be recommended.

Rotary endodontics is a method of performing a root canal with a special electric device. This method makes the root canal procedure much faster and makes it easier for your dentist to reach the infected areas.
